Acreage Brewery Proposal in Lafayette, CO | Adam & Gaby

Surprise proposal at Acreage Brewery overlooking Boulder and the Flatirons

Adam and Gaby’s proposal at Acreage Brewery was full of surprise, laughter, and the kind of energy that makes everyone around you feel it too. Gaby’s aunt, Dominique, reached out to plan the moment, and I loved being part of the behind-the-scenes coordination. Adam and Gaby arrived thinking they were celebrating a family anniversary, completely unaware of what was about to happen. What followed was a proposal surrounded by family, stunning views, and a lot of joyful shock.

Why this location and time of day worked so well

Acreage Brewery in Lafayette is a beautiful proposal spot with wide-open views of Boulder and the Flatirons in the distance. In September, the late afternoon light paired with mostly cloudy skies created soft, even lighting and a dramatic sky backdrop. The space allowed Adam to pull Gaby aside for a private moment while still keeping their family close enough to join the celebration right after she said yes.

Styling and session tips inspired by this shoot

Neutral tones and simple layers photographed beautifully against the sky and mountain views. For proposals, I always recommend outfits that feel like “you,” but with a little polish—nothing too formal, nothing too casual. Comfortable shoes are key since you’ll likely be walking or standing for a bit. If family will be nearby, coordinating colors lightly (without matching) helps everything feel cohesive in photos.

A meaningful moment from the session

I was on edge waiting for Adam to get down on one knee—not just because it’s emotional, but because I wanted to make sure I had a clear view. A few groups of people kept walking toward the exact spot where the proposal was about to happen, and I had to quietly ask them to pause and take another path. When Adam finally knelt and Gaby realized what was happening, her shock turned into pure joy. The surprise didn’t end there—her best friend flew in from out of town and appeared right after she said yes, leading to the sweetest, most emotional reunion.
