A Playful Late Spring Family & Maternity Session at Bobolink Trail | Boulder, CO
Late spring in Boulder has a way of keeping you on your toes, and this session was a perfect example. Zach and Gentry wanted something simple and close to home to mark this season before welcoming their third baby in June. With their two kids along for the adventure, we met at Bobolink Trail for a quick, meaningful family maternity session that felt easy and true to them. Even with changing weather, the afternoon unfolded in a really special way.
Why Bobolink Trail Worked So Well
Bobolink Trail is one of those locations that quietly does a lot of work for families. There’s a parking lot right there, minimal walking if you want to keep things close, and a wide, accessible multi-use path that works beautifully for strollers and wheelchairs. In late spring, the open space feels fresh and green without being overwhelming. The overcast golden hour light softened everything, and the light rain added mood without slowing us down.
Styling Notes Inspired by This Session
Gentry’s crochet cardigan was such a standout. Textured pieces like crochet, knits, or linen add depth without feeling busy, especially in neutral or earthy tones. They photograph beautifully in soft light and move well when there’s a breeze. For families, outfits that feel comfortable and a little playful make it easier to stay present—especially when kids want to explore.
A Moment I Won’t Forget
As the session went on, a rainstorm started to roll through. The sky turned dark and dramatic, the wind picked up, and the kids kept moving like nothing had changed. What stayed with me most was Gentry—calm, grounded, and steady in the middle of it all. It felt like such a clear reflection of motherhood: staying centered in the chaos, soft and steady while holding everything together.
